Latin
Utilizing a multimodal approach that integrates speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as drawing, movement, acting, collaborative storytelling, and mindfulness, students learn Latin as a spoken language in an inclusive and accessible way. Learning Latin as a spoken language is supported by language acquisition research and provides opportunities for meaningful communication in the classroom, such as students conversing about their own interests and feelings. The program covers various aspects of ancient Greco-Roman culture, including mythology, daily life, archaeology, and influence on the modern world. Students gain an appreciation for the contributions of these cultures, in addition to thinking critically about their historical legacy.
The Latin program supports literacy as students deepen their understanding of the English language through exploration of Latin and Greek roots.
