Carolyn von Behren, Development & Alumni Association Coordinator/ 8th Grade High School Advisor/ Diversity Dialogues Coordinator

Carolyn grew up in the Seattle area, moved east where she received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, worked a little while in D.C., and then made her way back to the west coast when Rob (her spouse) started grad school at Cal. What was intended as a "layover" in the Bay Area turned into 20+ years living in Berkeley and loving the Bay Area for life. Carolyn had a brief stint in the legal world after graduating from law school but eventually found more fun and satisfaction raising her five children. She has been a member of the Berkwood Hedge School community since her oldest started as a SPIRIT in 2006. She served on the Board of Trustees 2007-2015, serving on the Development Committee and Governance & Nominating. Carolyn also served several years as Board Chair and led the school's Head of School Search and Strategic Planning. She is the parent of four Berkwood Hedge alum (Zach '12, Ava '15, Lily '17. James '19) and one current student (Stellan '26/Metal class). In her spare time, Carolyn loves to teach and practice yoga, hike with her family, read lots of novels, listen to music (punk and k-pop are faves), and watch streaming shows with her children.
