Alexis Harte, Trustee

Alexis is honored to become a Berkwood Hedge Trustee. His son Leo joined the Berkwood Hedge community in 1st grade and is now in the vanguard middle school class as they move into 7th grade. A Berkeley native, Alexis received his BA in English and Journalism from UC Santa Cruz, and a Master's in Environmental Science from Yale University's School of the Environment. 

 

Alexis is a professional songwriter and composer and was co-founder and creative director of multi-award winning Pollen Music Group. In addition to sharing stages with Taj Mahal, Cat Power, Dar Wiliams and others, his songs have been used in countless TV shows and films. He has scored shows for Netflix, Discovery Channel, PBS and many more. In 2017, he won a Peabody and an Annie Award, for his song "No Wrong Way Home," for the Oscar nominated and Emmy winning film, Pearl. 

 

In a parallel and often intertwined career, Harte has led diverse community forestry and conservation projects in San Francisco and in the Brazilian Amazon.

 

When not in his recording studio, Harte can usually be found cycling through the Bay Area hills, backpacking in the Sierras, or making pizza.
