Berkwood Hedge School

Open Houses/Events

Choosing a private education for your child is a very important decision and sometimes can present challenges.  There are many aspects to consider.  Touring our campus is an important part of the decision making process.  As you experience the daily life going on around you, you will get a sense of what Berkwood Hedge School is all about.  While you are here, you will meet other parents and you will experience the Berkwood Hedge School community and get a sense of whether this is the right place for your child and your family.

In addition to our weekly Tuesday and Thursday morning tours we have four events during the 2017 - 2018 Admission Season. The events complement our school day tours. We recommend you go on a school tour in addition to attending the Open House and the Parent Education Series.

Parent Education Series: Head of School, Love Weinstock, "Social Class - Examining Dynamics & Developing Awareness"

Wednesday, January 10, 2017 6:30 - 8:00 pm

The intention is to create a safe environment in which participants can explore class dynamics and begin to Increase awareness and understanding of individual, institutional, and cultural manifestations of classism. Participants will begin to identify ways of taking action against classism in our everyday lives as they reflect on  individual class experiences, name class of origin, and begin to increase awareness and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of cross-class allies.

Through this workshop, we aim to meet several goals:

  •  Increase self-awareness with respect to social class.
  •  Increase understanding of others’ experiences to generate greater empathy for ourselves and people from class backgrounds other than our own.
  •  Better learn how to be allies, particularly across class.
  •  Create goals and strategies for change.
