Cassie Hughes, Associate Teacher
Cassie is from the Washington, DC area and spent much of her growing up years overseas in Moscow, Paris, and Zimbabwe. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College (Massachusetts), where she was a collegiate rower, and has a Masters degree in anthropology from the University of Cape Town (South Africa). Cassie has worked in environmental conservation and education at a family foundation, the US Forest Service, South African National Parks, and most recently in the Bay Area at NatureBridge (formerly the Yosemite Institutes). Cassie will be part of the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI) as she starts teaching at Berkwood Hedge in the 2nd grade. She is an avid cook, naturalist, and novice knitter. Cassie and her wife, Christina, live with their five-month-old son, August, their dog and two cats in El Cerrito.
