Paolo Diaz, Second Grade, EARTH Teacher
Paolo is a Peruvian born, Oakland native, who has been working with kids since he was 16 years old. Paolo received his BA from San Francisco State University where he majored in English Education with an emphasis in Linguistics, and holds a teaching credential from the California State University CalState Teacher Program. While in college, he directed the After School and Summer Programs at Head Royce School. After graduation, he started working in the classrooms at Head Royce, teaching Spanish, and serving as a long-term substitute lead teacher during maternity leaves.
In all his work experiences, what drives Paolo is a genuine love for children. Through innovative and creative projects, discussion, and reflection, Paolo supports students' authentic engagement with each other and the world around them. Paolo has many interests, but one of his favorite past times is playing basketball.
