Hanan Masri

Kindergarten SPIRIT Lead Teacher

Hanan graduated from Brown University with a degree in English and American Literature, focusing on texts by 20th century women of color. She completed her credentialing program at National Hispanic University in San Jose and taught kindergarten in East Palo Alto and El Cerrito before coming to Berkwood Hedge. As a certified nutritional consultant and ethnoherbalist, Hanan also teaches plant and culinary medicine classes to both adults and youth in the community and is co-founder of a youth engagement camp called High Road Scholars which focuses on bringing youth ages 6 and up closer to nature, somatic movement, indigenous cultures, and the arts.  Arabic is her family's home language and she identifies deeply as a writer, nature enthusiast, and dancer. She has been teaching kindergarten at Berkwood Hedge since 2001.
