Helia Pouyanfar
xCare & Advancement Coordinator
Helia is an exhibiting artist, educator, and program coordinator with more than eight years of experience in the arts. Born in Tehran, Iran, Helia immigrated to California in 2014. She received her B.A. in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and her MFA in Studio Art from UC Davis, specializing in sculpture and contemporary art. Inspired by her cultural background and experience of migration, her artistic practice explores the permanently transient state of the refugee body and its relationship to place, memory, and belonging.
Before joining Berkwood Hedge School as the xCare & Advancement Coordinator, Helia worked at The Berkeley School as the 4th–8th Grade Teaching Artist, Middle School Advisor, and Extended Day Coordinator. She looks forward to bringing her years of experience in education and program development to Berkwood Hedge School!
