Emma Ambler

Middle School Social Studies / 6th Grade Advisor

Emma received her master's of teaching and multiple subject credential from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute while teaching 6th grade social studies for two years at the Brandeis School of San Francisco. She then took a year away from the formal classroom to teach hands-on learning, first at a unique accredited gap year program for older teens on a farm in New Hampshire, then in after-school science programming at elementary schools in Oakland and Richmond. Her first year as a 6th grade advisor at Berkwood Hedge taught her so much about the magic that is possible when teachers bring their whole hearts to school, and she has been consistently amazed by the kindness and engagement of our BH students. Emma is thrilled to return for a second year, this time bringing her experience with experiential learning and a diversity of age groups to the fifth grade FIRE class, with its incredible social justice oriented projects centered on the class theme of power.  In her free time, Emma loves to read, sing, and adventure in the outdoors.
