Lissette Dominguez
Trustee
Lissette is a seasoned educator and passionate advocate for progressive, child-centered learning. She is a tenured faculty member in the Department of Child Development at Merritt College. With over two decades of experience in the field of education, Lissette brings a deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and equity-based approaches to teaching and learning.
Lissette holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from San Francisco State University and has worked in a variety of educational settings since 2002. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to nurturing environments where children are seen, heard, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. Her professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that the most meaningful learning emerges from the ideas, curiosities, and experiences of children, a perspective that aligns seamlessly with the mission and values of Berkwood Hedge School.
After touring the school with her husband, Lissette knew immediately that Berkwood Hedge was the ideal learning environment for their son. The school’s emphasis on inquiry-based, collaborative learning and its commitment to honoring each child’s unique developmental journey were key factors in their decision. Since joining the community, she has witnessed her son thrive both academically and socially, and has developed a deep appreciation for the faculty’s ability to meet students where they are and support their individual growth.
Lissette is honored to serve on the Board of Trustees and looks forward to contributing her expertise and perspective as both an educator and parent. She is committed to supporting the school’s continued success and to upholding its mission of fostering compassionate, curious, and confident learners.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Lissette enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, listening to music, dancing, and playing soccer.
