Tuition & Affordability

We are committed to being a place where equity, socioeconomic diversity, and social justice can thrive. Our goal is to ensure a Berkwood Hedge education is accessible to as many families as possible.

2024-2025 Tuition

Grades Kindergarten through Fifth: $31,500
Grades Sixth through Eighth: $37,500

Included in our tuition are school supplies, most field trips, and free childcare for evening events.
We offer a 5% Sibling Discount.

Extended Day Care

Available daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm. The fee for our Before School Program (BSP) or After School Program (ASP) is $13.00 per hour. Holiday care is $95.00 per day.

Work Commitment

The Tuition Agreement includes a commitment from each family to work 20 hours for the school each year, of which 5 must be devoted to school-wide development activities - activities related to fundraising, admissions, alumni, friends and family and community relations and outreach. The commitment for single parent families is 10 hours per year, 2.5 of which must be toward school-wide development activities.

This commitment is a way to both keep tuition affordable and involve parents in the life of the school as volunteers in the classroom, on field trips, in maintaining our facility, in the office, and in fundraising activities. At the end of the school year, uncompleted hours are billed at $30.00 per hour.

Tuition Assistance Program

We actively seek to make our school affordable and accessible to as many families as possible.  We allocate 20% of our gross income to our need-based Tuition Assistance program which serves 55% of Berkwood Hedge School families.

We consider applications for tuition assistance independently of the admission process and awards are need-based. Families may apply for an assistance award for extended care as well as for tuition.

Our Tuition Assistance Committee confidentially reviews applications for assistance. The committee strives to consider each applicant family's unique situation.  While families are required to re-apply for tuition assistance each year, provided there is no tremendous growth in income, families who are part of our tuition assistance program are assessed for their nine year trajectory at Berkwood Hedge School.

Clarity

We use Clarity to process our tuition assistance applications. Based on the financial information you provide, Clarity gives us an estimated amount that your family can contribute to educational expenses. This helps our school make fair and equitable tuition assistance decisions.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools. Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as Berkwood Hedge School requires you to upload additional tax documentation.

Final deadlines for Tuition Assistance applications will be available soon.

If you have any questions about the process of applying for Tuition Assistance, please contact Kemmeo DaSilva, Director of Admission at 510-883-6990 or [email protected].
