Tuition & Affordability
We are committed to being a school where equity, socioeconomic diversity, and social justice thrive. Our intention is to make a Berkwood Hedge School education accessible to as many families as possible.
Flexible Tuition
Our Flexible Tuition is designed to ensure that tuition costs align with each family’s financial circumstances. Flexible Tuition grants support over 50% of Berkwood Hedge School families. In recent years, grants have ranged from 5% to 75% of annual tuition.
2025-2026 Annual Tuition
Grades Kindergarten through Fifth: $33,400
Grades Sixth through Eighth: $39,400
Tuition may be paid annually in 1 payment, 2 payments, or in 10 monthly payments. We offer a 5% Sibling Discount.
Extended Day Care
Available daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm. The fee for our before school care program or after school X-Care Program is $13.50 per hour. Holiday care is $120.00 per day.
Work Commitment
Families contribute 20 volunteer hours per year (5 toward development activities such as fundraising and outreach). Single-parent families commit to 10 hours, with 2.5 hours for development.
This shared commitment keeps tuition affordable and fosters community involvement. Unfulfilled hours are billed at $20/hour at year’s end.
Flexible Tuition Applications
We consider Flexible Tuition applications independently of the admission process, with grants determined through a confidential review process that considers demonstrated need. While families are required to re-apply each year, provided there is no significant growth in income, families who are part of our Flexible Tuition program are assessed for their nine year trajectory at Berkwood Hedge School.
Families who wish to be considered for Flexible Tuition submit a Clarity application at the same time as the admissions application. Clarity provides a secure and user-friendly process to share financial information confidentially. Once your application is complete, Berkwood Hedge School uses Clarity’s analysis as a guide to determine your family’s tuition level for the upcoming school year.
To get started, visit the Clarity Application page to create an account. The application takes about 30 minutes to complete, can be done on any device, and allows you to save your progress. A $60 submission fee applies, and you can share your application with other Clarity schools at no extra cost. After submitting, please return to your Clarity dashboard to upload the additional tax documentation required by Berkwood Hedge School.
The deadline for Flexible Tuition applications is Friday, January 23, 2026.
If you have any questions about Flexible Tuition, please contact Kemmeo DaSilva, Director of Admission at 510-883-6990 or [email protected].
