Physical Education
Athletic skills, fitness, cooperative games, and teamwork are the foundation of the Berkwood Hedge physical education program. Through team and individual activities, students build physical skills related to coordination, strength, flexibility and endurance. During twice-weekly PE classes, children play sports and games and learn how the body works while exercising.
They learn to play by the rules, be supportive team members, and graceful winners and losers. Each day students spend time outside at recess and lunchtime, and have an opportunity to run and play on the big yard, explore the climbing equipment, or dig in the sand yard. Thursday lunches are dedicated to roller-blading and a voluntary sports league is available twice weekly during lunch.
